    • Google enables guest mode for Chromecast. Once enabled, the Guest Mode acts as a beacon to nearby devices, and only a pin code is needed. The PIN even can be transmitted using inaudible tones.
    • Google Maps gets high-resolution 3-d imagery for NY and San Francisco, more cities in 2015.

    • Kindle X-Ray now in Kindle for Android app. Allows for more information about the book or parts thereof.

    • Android Wear updated, adds full Watch Face API and a variety of small improvements.

    • President Obama joins in on an initiative to learn programming
    • Estonia wants to give everyone digital ID cards, even non-citizens and residents. For now, you have to visit Estonia to get one.
    • The FIDO initiative releases version 1.0 of its standard. Now that the standard is complete, adoption will likely increase.
    • Ting to add GSM support in February 2015.
    • Smart Lock coming to Chromebook, unlock Chromebooks with a Lollipop device.
