  • Amazon launches the Kindle Fire, a new $199 Android 2.3 tablet. Estimates are that amazon will lose $10-50 per tablet
    • Kindle Fire – Launching November 15, 7″ touchscreen, 8 hour battery life, etc.
    • No Google Apps, no Android Market. 
    • Amazon Silk, new browser that uses Amazon cloud services to optimize delivery.
  •  Platform News
    • Google launches 3D preview feature of your map route(helicopter view). 
    • Google accuses Microsoft of extortion…Microsoft accuses them of whining.
    • DOJ document reveals AT&T holds onto text message details for 5-7 years. Verizon only holds onto it for 1 year, but is the only carrier that holds the actual text for 3-5 days. 
    • The Top 50 Android apps take up 60-65 percent of smartphone users’ time, but those top 50 are in constant flux. 11 of the top 50 swapped out in the last 3 months. 
    • Sprint customers to get hotspot data cap of 5GB
    • Verizon is allegedly working on a Droid Loyalty program. 
    • Android Police reports on massive security vulnerability in HTC devices. Due to modifications by HTC, apps can gain access to a variety of unsecured data, there is a VNC server present,
