- Jacob E. Goldman, founder of Xerox PARC, passed away at the age of 90. Goldman convinced Xerox to start a laboratory dedicated to research. The PARC facility originated landmark technological breakthroughs including the first personal computer, object-oriented programming, the graphical user interface, the Ethernet network, laser printing, and the first commercial mouse. The PARC GUI was demonstrated to Steve Jobs, who was heavily influenced by it.

- Samsung releases Android dual-SIM smartphones – Dual-sim is used in many countries for people to share a cell phone, but is particularly interesting as a potential use for businesses, where you can add a work number into a phone coexisting with your personal number. This, if the release of Android is customized to keep your work and personal information separate on the phone, could eliminate the need for some people to carry a work and personal phone.
