I’ve recently had major internet slowdown over my wireless devices, and after hours of troubleshooting the only thing I can determine is that someone else’s wireless device is causing interference, though I’m not sure what to do about it next.My internet is usually 50-100Mbps over Comcast cable, and WiFi is usually 8-20Mbps. In the last several weeks, it’s dropped to an almost unusable <1-3Mbps. Standing right next to the router, it returns to almost normal. Walking away in any direction, the speed decreases substantially even a few feet away. This is regardless of where the router is or if anything is in front of it, even trying two different routers. Nothing has changed in my apartment, and things worked normally even when things were changed around.I’m looking for tools to troubleshoot or discover what the problem is, and for Android I have tried WiFi Analyzer, Fing, and Ookla. There are several Xfinity-wifi nodes around that were not around before, though I can’t tell if they are just Comcast residential router default names or subscriber internet nodes elsewhere. I will probably try inSSIDer for Android, though it’s $10, and also for Windows, which is $20, when I have more time to investigate it, but I am interested in your recommendations for troubleshooting this, even for identifying an offending router that may be unnecessarily powerful for an apartment or be outside of FCC regulations.When I notified my landlord of the problem, she said they have nothing to do with anybody’s “internet service wifi” and to have my internet provider troubleshoot it. The problem with that is that internet service and WiFi are two different things, which she apparently doesn’t understand, and Comcast charges to investigate WiFi issues. She is also oblivious to any notion that landlords should be responsible if a resident is interfering with other resident’s WiFi devices. This kind of thing is not mentioned in the lease (which I pointed out), she ignored my suggestion that it should be, and I think the reason is because routers were sparse even 5 or 7 years ago when I first checked, showing between 0 and 3, but now showing 18, many of which are on the same channel (and I moved to an empty channel).Can you provide any input on what you know or think about problems with an overbundance of WiFi routers in a living space, or the abuse of WiFi devices? I am at my wit’s end and not sure how to recover usable internet on anything but a direct cable connection. - Android News
