    • Contract-Free Cell Phones only account for 23 percent of U.S. Wireless customers.
    • T-Mobile loses half a million contract customers, gains 227,000 new prepaid users.

    • Trial begins in the case of kidney sold for an iPad. Nine people are being tried in China’s Hunan province after allegedly helping a 17-year-old boy sell one of his kidneys in order to buy an iPad and an iPhone
    • All four major US Carriers join with Google, ISIS to form Mobile Payments Committee…absent is Square, who just hooked up with Starbucks in a gigantic deal.
    • MetroPCS becomes first carrier to offer VoLTE, combining its voice, messaging and Internet services onto a single IP network. MetroPCS has a need to switch, due limited resources. Verizon plans to launch its first VoLTE phone this year. AT&T can revert to GSM when customers get out of range of LTE. CDMA does not have that option. Sprint has a motivation to switch to LTE, but just started its LTE network.

    • Droid World, a gathering of Android devs, begins October 2nd in London.
